Ayurvedic Treatments

One of the famous therapies of Ayurveda is Abhyanga, a full-body massage using large amounts of warm, pre-medicated herbal oil and rhythmic hand movements. The herbs are selected based on the particular condition of the patient.
This procedure is done as part of Panchakarma to prepare the body for detoxification. It promotes circulation and lymphatic drainage, relaxes the body while removing toxins, and balances the doshas or bioenergies.

Shiro Abhyanga

Head Massage for Stress Relief
Warm medicinal herbal oil is used to massage the head, neck, and shoulders, with the oil selection influenced by your condition. Benefits include lowering stress levels, nourishing and promoting hair growth, bringing strength and clarity to the senses, improving blood circulation in the head, and relieving headaches, migraines, and stiffness in the neck and shoulders.

Pada Abhyanga

Foot Massage
This soothing, therapeutic oil massage targets the marma or energy points on the feet, legs, and knees to release stress or pain. Each foot has several marmas or nerve endings.
Pada Abhyanga helps release negative energy, reviving and harmonizing the nervous system, and giving you a more grounded sense of self. It is also beneficial for the sense organs such as the eyes and ears, and treats headaches and menstruation irregularities.

Shirodhara

Shirodhara is an Ayurvedic treatment in which medicated oil is gently poured over the forehead in a continuous stream. It is effective in treating nervous system disorders such as a restless mind, insomnia, anxiety, hypertension, headache, paralysis, and degenerative Vata diseases. It can also prevent dandruff, premature greying, and skin disorders.

Kashaya Shirodhara

Kashaya Shirodhara is a Shirodhara treatment using medicated herbal decoction.

Takra Dhara

This treatment involves a continuous flow of medicated buttermilk on the forehead, which has cooling properties that help relax the mind and reduce mental stress. Takra Dhara can also prevent greying of the hair, reduce headaches, increase digestive power, and alleviate anorexia. It is also effective in treating insomnia, depression, and other stress-related ailments.

Kashaya Dhara

In this treatment, a herbal decoction is poured over the entire or a specific part of the body. Depending on the herbs used in the decoction, this treatment can be used to treat skin conditions such as eczema, dermatitis, and psoriasis, as well as neurological diseases, muscle pain, and inflammation.

Jambeera Pinda Sweda

Poultices filled with Jambeera (Lemon), known for its antioxidant and detoxifying effects, mixed with herbs and heated in warm oil are applied to muscles and joints to relieve pain, inflammation, and tension and improve flexibility. Benefits include treating rheumatoid arthritis, muscular spasm, cervical spondylitis, and lumbar spondylitis.

Choorna Pinda Sweda

The whole body is massaged with poultices containing Choornam (medicated powder) to induce therapeutic sweating, which helps to liquefy fat and make the body feel lighter. This treatment also alleviates body aches, strengthens the muscles, and reduces inflammation in the joints.

Janu Vasti

Warm medicated oil is poured continuously on the knee and retained using a chickpea paste dough. The oil is allowed to permeate the joint and draw out toxins. This treatment helps remove stillness and pain, increase blood circulation, and improve mobility.

Shiro Vasti

In this treatment, medicated oil is kept on the head using a cap to enhance the neurons and relax the body and mind. It is effective in addressing issues of anxiety, insomnia, neurological and psychological disorders, stress, and skin disorders.

Ushma Sweda

Ushma Sweda is a full-body therapy that uses medicated steam to produce sweating or perspiration, which helps to remove toxins from deep inside the body and reduce tension. It’s one of Panchakarma’s detoxification techniques. The body is covered with fresh, green leaves and particular herbs. After that, you spend 10 to 15 minutes lying down in a steam bath. The herbs impart their qualities to your body while extracting toxins through the steam bath. A soothing procedure! This treatment enhances blood circulation, removes toxins, promotes joint mobility, lowers blood pressure. treats obesity, improves skin, clears the respiratory system, and energizes the body.

Nadi Sweda

This treatment is done by applying medicinal steam to particular regions to reduce stiffness, improve blood circulation, and relieve pain in a particular body part or joint.

Talapothichil or Taladharanam

Taladharanam is a cooling remedy that is effective in treating neck and head-related aches and pains. The procedure begins with the application of a medicinal herbal paste to the head, which is then covered with a banana leaf cap. Talapotchil has a strong balancing and calming effect, increases neuronal activity, and helps with migraines, insomnia, and stress. It also reduces body heat, enhances memory, prevents premature hair aging, and calms the body and mind.

Netra Kshalanam

Netra Kshalanam involves pouring herbal decoction over the eyes to remove impurities and improve vision. It may be helpful for those who experience eye strain and fatigue, and can also prevent potential eye diseases caused by humidity and dust. This treatment is designed to provide a cooling and soothing sensation to the eyes.

Nasyam

Nasal Therapy for Sinusitis and Headaches

Nasyam is one of the five Panchakarma detoxification procedures in Ayurveda.

The procedure begins with a facial oil massage and/or the application of steam to the face, head, and neck to loosen the adherent doshas. Warm medicinal oil is then dripped into the nostrils, and the person receiving the treatment will spit out any mucus that is produced. Finally, medicinal smoke is inhaled through the nose.

This therapy treats conditions above the chest, such as sinusitis, facial palsy and neck pain. It can also help with premature greying, nasal congestion, syncope, neurological issues, dental health issues, and migraines.

Karna Pooranam

Medicated oils are instilled into the ears, followed by herbal smoke therapy to reduce itching, dryness, or ringing in the ears (tinnitus), improve hearing. relieve swelling and earache, and is also used in cases of deafness.

Karna Dhoopanam

This treatment involves introducing medicated smoke into the ears to help treat earaches, itchy ears, and tinnitus.

Upanaham

In this treatment, a medicated herbal paste is applied to the affected part of the body and wrapped with a piece of gauze. It is effective in treating various types of inflammatory conditions, such as arthritis, gout, skin diseases, and eczema. Continuous localized applications of the paste can help reduce inflammation and increase blood circulation.

Udvartanam

In this treatment, the whole body is massaged with medicated powder. The treatment stimulates energy flow in the body, detoxifies and nourishes the tissues, and activates the skin’s natural metabolism. It helps to reduce cellulite and cleanses and refines the skin structure, giving the skin a lustrous glow.

Lepanam

In this treatment, a medicated herbal paste is applied to the affected part of the body. It is effective in treating various types of inflammatory conditions, such as arthritis, gout, skin diseases, and eczema. Continuous localized applications of the paste can help reduce inflammation and increase blood circulation.

Pichu

Pichu is a palliative treatment that can provide relief for many physical and mental ailments. The treatment involves applying a thick layer of warm, medicated oil-soaked cotton to the affected area, which is periodically replaced to maintain warmth and therapeutic effects.

Snehapana

This internal oleation is a major preparatory procedure to be performed before Panchakarma (purification). The entire procedure of purification is based on the proper mobilization of humors (doshas) from the periphery.
This is achieved with the help of Snehana (oleation) and Swedana (fomentation).

Vamana

Emesis

Internal and external oleation and fomentation therapies for a few days in a row. Once the toxins are liquefied and gathered in the upper cavities of the body, the patient is given emetic decoction.

Vamana helps to eliminate toxins from the tissues and is especially recommended for Kapha-dominated conditions.

Virechana

Purgation

Elimination of toxins with the help of internal and external oleation and fomentation therapies and herbal laxatives to facilitate the evacuation of the bowels.

This treatment cleanses the body of toxins and is recommended for Pitta-dominated conditions.

Vasthi

Medicated enema

Ayurveda’s unique contribution to the medical world. This therapy has enormous benefits, especially in complicated and chronic diseases. The herbal decoctions, oils, ghee or milk administered give highly positive effects, especially for Vata predominant conditions.

Rakthamoksham

Bloodletting

Cleanses the blood, either in a specific area or the entire body. Useful in various skin diseases such as psoriasis, eczema and local lesions such as abscesses and pigmentation.
